Equality Impact Assessment

What is an Equality Impact Assessment? (E.I.A)

An equality impact assessment is a tool to identify whether or not policies, services and procedures are having an adverse impact on a particular group of people due to gender, race or disability, religion, faith and culture. In other words, is the policy or procedure being provided in a way that meets the needs of the customer and not in a discriminatory manner? The idea is to identify any unintended impacts or institutional barriers that affect individuals and communities because of factors of race, gender, age, religion or belief, sexuality, gender identity or disability. Our policies and procedures are to ensure we are meeting our customers' needs and meeting our legal obligations.
