There are over 76,000 homes in the borough of Sutton, of which the large majority, some 73%, are owner-occupied. The private rented sector accounts for around 12% while 'social housing' (local authority and housing association owned homes) accounts for the remaining 15%. The stock of over 6,600 rented homes is now managed by Sutton Housing Partnership (SHP), an arms-length management organisation or 'ALMO. SHP is responsible for providing the full range of housing management services to our tenants and leaseholders, with the exception of Right-to-Buy administration.
As a local housing authority, there are a number of important statutory responsibilities which help to ensure that the housing needs of the local population are met, now and into the future.
