Durand Close Fun Day

DurandCloseFunday

Following the Youth Focus Group| for Durand Close and residents expressing a desire for more activities and community events, Sutton Housing Partnership developed a Free Fun Day for the residents at Durand Close on Wednesday 29 July 2009.

The day had a great response from residents and over 130 children took part in the treasure hunt alone. We had lots of residents tell us how much they enjoyed the event and how fantastically it had been organised.

The day included lots of free activities for residents of all ages. A giant bouncy activity castle and SHP organised a treasure hunt for the children.

Other fun activities included a large four sided climbing wall with different sides for varying difficulty,  Skateboarding ramps were provided for teenagers on the estate and face painting for the children was popular as ever. Everyone was welcome to a free barbecue and refreshments.

As the Neighbourhood Manager for the estate recently changed it was an excellent opportunity for residents to meet the new manager and mix with other members of staff from Sutton Housing Partnership. The event was also attended by The Wrythe Safer Neighbourhood Team who engaged with residents and children whilst there.

A big thanks to some of the other agencies involved including Crystal Palace FC, London Borough of Sutton Positive Futures, Elevate, Wrythe Lane Safer Neighbourhood Team, Afinity Group, Rydons Constructions and the Riverside Centre.
