Sutton Housing Partnership joined forces with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team to host a community event for residents and their families living at Sutton Court, Brighton Road, Sutton.
Residents said they would like a sporting event and the idea of a mini olympics for children and families was developed. There was a great turn out on the day and residents got the chance to see SHP staff and the Police put through their paces as the games kicked off with an obstacle relay race.
On the day there was a balloon race for children and residents were encouraged to sign up to join SHP’s Sounding Board.
SHP staff were promoting healthy eating to children and families and the day also helped raise money for Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital.
Neighbourhood Manager Suzanne Richards-Jones took the opportunity to talk to residents about what they would like to see on the estate for children and how they felt the ball court could be used to host more sporting activities.
Comments from residents and children included: "This is the best day of my life", "Thanks for organising this event it has been really good for the estate."
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to Rushy Meadow School for lending us the play equipment on the day.
