October 2008 Celebrating UK Older People's Day 1st October 2008
This special day gave communities a chance to celebrate the huge contribution older people make to our families and neighbourhoods. This year’s theme was all about bringing generations together, getting to know people outside of your own age group and being active in the community.

SHP staff celebrated the day by organising several initiatives to bring local children and sheltered housing residents together. One of the events involved school children from Robin Hood Junior ‘taking afternoon tea’ with the sheltered housing residents at Thomas Wall Close.

September 2008 Sutton Federation of Tenant & Resident Associations (SFTRA) Annual General Meeting
SFTRA will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 23 September at Sutton Gate, 1 Carshalton Road, Sutton from 7.30pm onwards. Tom Brake and Paul Burstow, local MPs, will be amongst several guest speakers. For more information and to book your place, please click here.
September 2008 Clockhouse Community Fun Day
The residents of the Clockhouse estate joined together last Saturday for their 2008 annual Fun Day. SHP staff went along to face paint and were joined by Neighbourhood Manager Winston Marshall who was on hand to speak with residents about Major Works and what the residents want to see in the future at Clockhouse.
September 2008 Credit Union coming to Sutton
Sutton Housing Partnership, Sutton Federation of Tenant & Resident Associations (SFTRA) and the London of Borough of Sutton are all backing proposals for a ‘not-for-profit’ people’s savings and loans co-operative in the borough.

The Credit Union offer help and support to those who are unable to access financial services such as bank accounts or loans, often due to low incomes or poor credit ratings. To read more and pledge your support cli

After three years of hard work the community garden at Clarence Road Sheltered Housing Scheme has been transformed into a plant lovers' paradise for the residents to enjoy all year round. Read more here.
September 2008 Free play for Sutton kids
Projects funded by The Big Lottery Fund are now available to local children, aged 5-16, during term times and holidays. Read more here.

Summer Uni provide exciting, innovative and educational courses that run throughout the summer. All young people in Sutton, from 8 to 25 years old, can take part in any course, anywhere in London and most of the courses are free! Read more here.
August 2008 Sutton's Residents Celebrate Great Neighbours
Sutton's council tenants and leaseholders got the opportunity to celebrate and recognise their neighbours with Sutton Housing Partnership's Good Neighbour Awards held at SHP’s Annual Residents’ Conference on Saturday 5 July at Carshalton College. Read more here.

July 2008 £112.5m housing boost – ‘A step closer’
Long awaited improvements to council homes across Sutton came a step closer this week with the government confirming an award of £112.5m. This funding will allow homes to be brought up to the Decent Homes standard and address the backlog in major repairs. Read more here
July 2008 Spring into action!

June 2008 Up, Up and Away at the Circle Fun Day
Last Saturday saw local children from St Helier enjoying themselves at the Circle Fun Day. With representatives from Sutton Housing Partnership face painting for kids and a balloon race, ran by the Sutton Federations for Tenants and Residents, lots of fun was had by all as local children launched their balloons in an attempt to see whose would go the furthest. May 2008 Nintendo Wii...not just for kids!
Staff from the Ecolocal BikeStreet project recently visited sheltered housing residents at Thomas Wall Close, Sutton to give them the chance to play games on the Nintendo Wii, the latest hi-tech video games console. Read more here.

Sutton Housing Partnership’s Chief Executive Moving On
Peter Dolan, Chief Executive has announced he’ll be leaving Sutton Housing Partnership at the end of April.

After nearly 30 years of providing housing management services to Sutton’s council tenants and leaseholders, Peter has decided that it is time to ring the changes and hand over the responsibility for managing the 8,000 council properties that Sutton Housing Partnership is responsible for.
