Tea and advice served up by Sutton Council
- Location

- Date(s)
- Monday 15th November 2010
- Description

Cups of tea will be served alongside benefits advice at Sutton Council’s Time for Tea event.
Aimed at older residents who may not be aware of all benefits they are entitled to, staff will explain how they can claim and what they can expect to receive.
The Pension Service, Age Concern and the Citizens Advice Bureau will also be on hand to talk through ways to lower utility bills and maximise incomes.
Cllr John Drage, Executive Member for Finance and Efficiency at Sutton Council, said: “Times are tough for many people but there is help available to those that are finding things difficult. “We want to reach out to vulnerable people early rather than waiting for them to fall into the poverty trap. “This event will help residents to know about any benefits or assistance that they are entitled to and how to claim it.”
Time for Tea will be held on Monday 15 November between 9am and 12 noon at the Clockhouse One Stop Shop, Hillcrest Parade, Clockhouse. No booking is necessary.
This follows on from two other successful Time for Tea days held in March at Wallington Library and the Civic Offices which were attended by over 100 people.
