Dedicated Caretaker Celebrates 40 Years of Service

Dedicated caretaker George Hall has been recognised for his 40 years of long service to residents living on the Chaucer Estate in Sutton.

George started work as a caretaker in Sutton in 1971, when he was 22 years old, and has lived on the estate for many years in his role as the on site caretaker.

Although his role has changed over the years, including maintaining the heating boiler at Chaucer House through to helping out on estate fun days, his positive attitude has remained the same.

When asked about his long service George said:  “I love coming to work and I have always wanted to make Chaucer the number one estate for caretaking in Sutton.  I try to always make time to speak to residents and children on the estate, many of them I have known all their lives.”

Andrew Taylor Chief Executive of Sutton Housing Partnership said:  “George is committed to providing really high standards of caretaking for residents and he is a well known and well respected figure in the local community.  I would like to thank George for his hard work, positive attitude and dedication over the last 40 years."
