The Metropolitan Police in Sutton have reported two incidents of bogus doorstep callers posing as police officers in the last month. In both cases the conmen have entered addresses saying they are checking forged £20 notes. The conmen are mostly targeting the elderly and vulnerable, (although anyone could be at risk) with one resident having more than £1,000 stolen.
There are currently no police investigations into forged £20 notes in the borough.
