Tennis is a free for all in Sutton

TennisForFree

A two year free tennis coaching programme was launched in Sutton on 16th October.

Based at the tennis courts in Rosehill Park, the initiative provides free equipment and lessons on a weekly basis.

The programme will last for two years and will take place every Sunday between 10am-12pm, where tennis aces will pass on their knowledge and skills.

Around 25 children and families took advantage of the free lessons on offer last week.

Tennis For Free is a new charity working across the UK, with schools, tennis clubs and local authorities, to provide free tennis coaching and the use of equipment in many of the UK’s public parks with courts.

Sutton Housing Partnership supports this initiative and is encouraging their customers to take part.

Head of Community Cohesion, Susan Holbrook, said:  “For lots of our residents who live on the St Helier estate this is right on their doorstep, all you need to do is just turn up and give it a go. You can learn a new sport for free and all the equipment you need is provided.  Its’ something all the family can try and it’s completely free”
