Mike Davies, the new Chair for SHP's Board of Directors

Sutton Housing Partnership is delighted to announce Mike Davies as the new Chair of its Board of Directors.

Mike was elected at SHP’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 5th October and will be supported by Samia Tossio, a tenant representative, who will take up the role of Vice Chair.

Mike brings to the role a wealth of experience as the previous Director of Housing at Croydon Council for over 10 years.

Before his retirement there he led a wide range of housing services and developed extensive partnerships with residents to help them lead on shaping policy and monitoring housing services.

Mike said:  “I am very proud to have been chosen as the new Chair for SHP’s Board and to have the opportunity to represent the organisation and the valuable services they provide.”

“One of my main priorities will be to ensure that with deep spending cuts being felt across the country, I will work hard with the board and SHP staff to ensure that we deliver our Decent Homes work programme and remain responsive to the needs of our residents in Sutton.”

Local resident Samia, has been on the board since the beginning of 2011.  Samia joined the board “to develop and support community initiatives” and has recently been working to set up a Tennis For Free initiative for Sutton’s residents.

Mike takes the reins from Findlay Macpherson who chaired the ALMO from 2009.  During his time as chair, Findlay was instrumental in securing a range of achievements for SHP including securing substantial and long awaited Decent Homes funding for improvements to council homes in Sutton.

The Board has overall responsibility on how the organisation is run and how improvements will be delivered under the Management Agreement with Sutton Council. It is made up of four residents, four council nominees and four independent experts. Each position is voluntary. The Board meets once every two months.
