Women living in the borough are being offered a week’s taster course with the potential for gaining work in the construction industry.
The 5 day taster course is being held in early February at Carshalton College and is open to all females of any age living in the borough.
The workshops will run for five consecutive days and will teach a wide range of skills from customer service to DIY. There will be links into local employers and work experience in jobs, such as resident liaison and electrical installation.
Sutton Housing Partnership, with support from the National Lottery and the Evening Standard, is offering the course through an initiative called the Building Lives Training Academy.
The Academy aims to offer local residents opportunities to train and learn skills that will help gain work in the construction industry. Later in the year, a larger scheme open to men and woman will be launched.
