Our Inspection, what does it mean?

It’s been nearly two years since the Audit Commission came and inspected SHP. After carrying out their assessment of our services, they produced a report which scored us as a ‘One Star’ fair organisation with ‘Promising Prospects of Improvement’.

Everyone, staff and residents alike, were really disappointed with the result and the subsequent delay in accessing the Decent Homes funding. However, we took the inspector’s recommendations on board and have spent this time working with you and our partners to improve our services and make a real difference to you and your communities.

Many of you have taken an interest in helping us improve and shape our services and have given us the benefit of your experience by taking part in meetings, attending Estate Inspections, filling in surveys, by becoming ‘Mystery Shoppers’, joining in with resident ‘Make a Difference’ days and participating in our resident training programme.

In a few days, the Audit Commission will be back to re-inspect our services and see the differences we have all made. The inspectors will be talking to a number of residents, staff and Board members and we’ll be asking some of you to come along to a group meeting here at Sutton Gate.

The results of the inspection will not be finalised until after Christmas, but as soon as we find out we’ll let you know. Thank you, as always, for all your hard work and support.
