Essential gas mains replacement in Sutton

Sutton Council is forewarning businesses and residents about a lengthy road closure in Sutton High Street for essential gas mains replacement in March. Southern Gas Networks (SGN) will close the High Street to traffic between Mulgrave Road and the junction with Sutton Court Road (at Zizzi) for ten weeks from Tuesday 16 March.

The works, which are not part of the council’s regeneration of the town centre, are to replace old metal pipes with new plastic mains. Transport for London will be diverting bus routes for the duration of the works and SGN are installing warning and diversion signs in the town centre and on approaching roads.

While the council is not carrying out the works it will be closely monitoring the contractors to make sure they are completed as quickly as possible. Any queries about the gas mains replacement work should be made to Southern Gas Networks on 020 8687 3510 .
