What is Hate Crime?
SHP believes that all residents are entitled to quiet enjoyment of their homes. Unfortunately, there are occasions where people are affected criminal offences motivated by prejudice, because they belong to an identifiable group. This can be on the basis of race, faith, gender, age, sexual orientation or disability.
Where hate crime is reported to us, we will aim to contact you within two working days, take further details and agree with you what we will do. We will offer you support, and may refer you to other agencies such as the police or Sutton Race Equality Council| for further help and assistance. We will take action against perpetrators wherever possible. With your help we will be able to:
-
Take action wherever possible to prevent hate crime occurring
-
Treat allegations of hate crime seriously and sensitively seek to minimise the effects of hate crime
-
Take action against the perpetrators of hate crime.
If you experience any types of this behaviour in or around your home or estate, please report it to us immediately on Freephone 0800 195 5552 or from you mobile on 0208 915 2000 (call charges may vary according to your network).
