Christmas carols for the SHP community

Local primary school students performed to SHP residents at the annual Christmas carols event in December. Singing carols, creating crafts and enjoying delicious snacks, students mingled with residents and spread the Christmas cheer.

SHP arranged for the students from Tweeddale and Westbourne Primary schools to arrive by bus to each estate, where they performed songs and read christmas stories to the residents.

Attendees Patrick and Betty enjoyed themselves at the Olveston Walk performance , Patrick said; “It’s Christmas and it’s nice to come to carol singing, takes us back to when we were kids … it’s a quiet time of the year really, because it being winter we don’t get out as much ... anyone who can get out will come”.

Betty who enjoyed helping the children to create crafts after their wonderful performance also added; “It’s been lovely, I came last year, but we didn’t have the craft's last year, so that’s a nice addition”.

This was another great initiative set up by the SHP Community Development team, bringing people together to enjoy Sutton, and spread some Christmas cheer.
