Next Scrutiny Boot Camp - Saturday 8 June

Our next Scrutiny Boot Camp is on Saturday 8 June. We want you to come and tell us about your experience of living in a home managed by SHP.

Held in partnership with the Sutton Federation of Tenant and Resident Associations (SFTRA), quarterly Scrutiny Boot Camps are your chance to tell us truthfully what's working, what's not and what we can do to make SHP work better for you.

When: Saturday 8 June, 10am - 2pm. A new repairs help desk will be open from 9.30am to take your questions and comments about repairs.

Where: Sutton Civic Offices, St Nicholas Way, SM1 1EA

Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and plenty of opportunity to talk to us and other residents about the issues you care about.

Free transportation can be arranged if you need it, and we'll cover childcare costs if this will enable you to come along.

Residents, SHP staff including senior management, our repairs partner Mears and representatives from Sutton Council all take part in boot camps.

At this boot camp we'll be looking at:

  • Repairs - what we're doing to deliver good, reliable responsive repairs
  • Community hubs - what is the future of our local community hubs and what would make you visit one?
  • Health and housing - plans for a new project to make it easier for older residents to get support with their health, working in partnership with local health services
  • Direct contact - is being able to contact your Housing Manager directly working?
  • Tenancy visits - help shape them
  • Housing for older people
  • Anti-social behaviour

There's no need to RSVP, but if you would like to speak to us about travel arrangements or plans for the day please email communitydevelopment@suttonhousingpartnership.org.uk.

Future boot camps will be held on Saturday 14 September and Saturday 23 November 2019 - find out more about boot camp outcomes and next steps.

Get a free app to tackle noise nuisance

We’re pleased to launch The Noise App at SHP - a new way for residents to record noise nuisance complaints.

It’s completely free and available to download on a smartphone.

How it works

The Noise App lets you to instantly record noise nuisance on your phone - creating an accurate record of the problem and how it affects you.

Once you’ve recorded your evidence you can send it directly to us so that we can investigate. You can keep a noise nuisance diary to help you track disturbances.

You can make as many recordings as you need to, and each can last for up to 30 seconds.

Please note: You will need a smartphone device to use this app. We recommend using a broadband connection to share recordings so it doesn’t use your mobile data allowance.

How to get it

The app can be downloaded on iPhone at the App Store, and on Android at the Google Play Store. Just search ‘The Noise App’.

Once you've downloaded the app, follow the steps to create an account and search for ‘Sutton Housing Partnership’ when asked for your Investigator / Housing Provider.

Using the app

Once you've created an account, the app is really simple to use.

It will guide you through making your first recording and sending it to us. If you need help you can download the Noise App User Guide [pdf 269KB].

The video below will walk you through how to set up and use the app.

Surprise win for SHP resident

St Helier resident Margaret Newton won £50 of Love2Shop vouchers just by going online!

Margaret has been saving her time by using her SHP online account and was put into our automatic monthly draw for £50 of Love2Shop vouchers.

“I use my online account to check my rent balance and find out information about what’s happening in my area. Recently I set up Direct Debit for council tax too. I also find it useful to find the details of my Housing Manager and Area Surveyor.”

Margaret and her family have been living in their home in St Helier since back in the 1930’s when the first social houses were built in Sutton.

After having a rough year, Margaret said that winning the voucher has come at a good time to give her a ‘pick me up’.

“I’m just going to treat myself. I’ve only got my pension, so it’s nice to be able to treat myself”.

Commenting on her supportive community, Margaret mentioned the support her neighbours have shown her in recent difficult times.

“I have the most wonderful neighbours, I really couldn’t ask for better… I am so grateful to them for being there for me.”

With decreased ability to get out of the house, Margaret uses her account regularly, at least a few times a month to check her rent balance and find out what’s happening in her area.

“I think the site is really good, it shows when you’ve had repairs and gives you the opportunity to give feedback on repairs.

To be in with a chance of winning £50 of Love2Shop vouchers every month you simply have to have an online account, and use it that month. We will then automatically put you in the draw to win the prize.
