Fire Safety in Your Home

Fire Safety Management is a major priority for SHP and we regularly re-visit our progress to keep residents and leaseholders safe. We have recently released the Fire Safety Strategy and Plan to improve safety across our homes.

By using the Fire Risk Tool we are assessing each and every block for overall fire risk in a building risk profiling exercise. Aligned with the building fire risk we are ensuring that we have obtained comprehensive and dynamic person centred assessments. To obtain this information we undertake Person Centric Fire Risk Assessment (PCFRA) for any resident that may have a heightened risk with respect to fire and / or may have increased difficulties in escape and evacuation.

Where a resident has mobility or capacity difficulties that may hinder their independent escape and evacuation the PCFRA will often put in place, a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP). The information is regularly shared with the London Fire Brigade (LFB) and with PEEPS. The PCFRA process will often result in the referral of the property for a LFB fire safety in the home visit. These are referred using the LFB process and all referrals are recorded and monitored by SHP.

SHP will shortly be releasing a letter to all residents about the FIre Safety Strategy and Plan and within this is information on how residents can stay safe and prevent fires. Additionally the Risk and Compliance Team are hosting a series of Fire Safety in the Home coffee mornings to be held in the independent living block lounges.
