The bunting was out and residents celebrated in style to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee last week.

Several Independent Living schemes were able to come together and socialise after what has been a very difficult and isolating two years caused by the impact of COVID-19.

In the courtyard of Milton House, around 20 residents, relatives and friends enjoyed cake, snacks and live songs. Marlene was the winner of the Queen's Jubilee quiz and many residents won raffle prizes too!

At Clarence House, Maggie and Jackie toasted the special occasion and there was a range of savouries and sweets including jubilee-themed cupcakes for residents to enjoy. While at Seven Acres and Marfleet, residents joined neighbours and relatives to hold a street party outside the scheme.

Residents from Crownbourne Court held their own jubilee celebrations with food supplied by Theresa, a Community Champion at Morrisons Sutton. On 7 June, 14 of our residents were also invited to take part in the Jubilee celebrations at Sutton Lodge Day Centre.

Catherine Charlton, Operations Director at Sutton Housing Partnership, said:

“It’s been fantastic for our residents to be able to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in such style.

"Some of our residents can remember back to when Her Majesty ascended the throne, and it was important that they were able to celebrate such a momentous occasion.

“Our thanks go to all the Independent Living Officers who worked hard to arrange and promote these events.”
