Statement from Steve Tucker, Managing Director - Grenfell Tower - fourth anniversary

“Today marks the fourth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, which led to the death of 72 people. We remember those who lost their lives and loved ones and remain fully committed to ensuring the safety of SHP residents.

Following the tragic events at Grenfell Tower in June 2017 we undertook a wide range of measures to redouble our commitment to fire safety. We work closely with the local Fire Commander of the London Fire Brigade and his team.

We undertake fire risk assessments and inspections in all our buildings where these are necessary on an ongoing basis, and we make upgrades and carry out maintenance works where appropriate.

We work with residents to ensure communal areas are free of combustible items which could compromise safety or stop people getting out of the block in an emergency, and ask them to contact us if they have any concerns about the safety of their home or wish to report an incident.

At SHP, the safety of our residents is our utmost priority and we continue to work with them to ensure their homes are safe places to live.”
