Your Tenancy Conditions have been revised

The Conditions of Tenancy set out the rights and responsibilities you have as a tenant and the responsibilities the Council has as your landlord.

In July 2023, we wrote to you and asked for your views on our proposals to vary the Conditions of Tenancy. Consultation on the proposed variation of the current conditions of tenancy closed on Monday 9th October 2023, following an extension to the consultation.

We are grateful for the responses we received. These have been considered and some amendments have been made, before it was submitted to the Council for final approval.  The London Borough of Sutton has agreed to the proposed variations and the new conditions will come into effect on 1st May 2024.

All residents have been sent:

  1. A copy of the new conditions of tenancy.
  2. A summary of the variations of the existing conditions

If you agree with the revised conditions, you do not need to take any further action. You do not need to sign a new tenancy agreement.

If you do not wish to accept the revised conditions of tenancy, the option available to you, as set out in the Housing Act 1985, would be to terminate your tenancy.  In these circumstances we would encourage you to take appropriate legal advice before doing this, to safeguard your best interests.

We hope that you agree that the new conditions are acceptable to you as many of you have played a part in shaping them.
