Sutton Council owns ‘The Pastures’ travellers' site at 80 Carshalton Road, Banstead, SM7 3DX, and this 15 pitch site is managed by Sutton Housing Partnership.

The general housing register in Sutton and the waiting list for the Pastures site is managed by Encompass LATC. They deliver the housing advice, information and housing assessment services on behalf of the London Borough of Sutton.

Alternatively you can download the Gypsy & Traveller Site Pitch Application Form (PDF 257KB).

Priorities for selection - vacant pitches

In order to ensure appropriate allocations to those in greatest need, Encompass will prioritise applications received.

Priority is determined by a combination of the following criteria:

  • History and length of homelessness
  • Length of stay in inappropriate accommodation
  • Family connections with the site
  • Social reasons (eg: need for children to attend school)
  • Medical/Health
  • Support needs
  • Domestic violence or harassment
  • Time on the waiting list
  • Security of Tenure

Points will be awarded for each criteria above. You will usually hear from Encompass within four weeks when they will write to you to request proof of your circumstances.

We do send out renewals to existing clients on the waiting list to update any change of circumstances, if they are not returned to Encompass the application will be closed.

Other housing options

You may wish to consider other options whilst waiting for a pitch or as an alternative.
