Important reminder regarding home visits and maintenance

Sutton Housing Partnership (SHP) wants to ensure all residents feel safe and informed when it comes to contractors or staff visiting your home. Please remain vigilant with unexpected callers.

Our standard procedures

SHP follows a protocol for all repairs, maintenance, and gardening schemes. You can always expect the following from us:

  • SHP will always call you in advance to discuss work and arrange a specific appointment time

  • While our Housing Managers may occasionally conduct unannounced visits, all SHP employees are required to carry and display a photo ID badge for your security

How to stay safe

If someone knocks on your door claiming to be from the council or SHP:

  • Do not feel pressured to let them in or engage in conversation

  • Always ask to see their identification through a window or a door crack (with the safety chain on)

  • If you are unsure, ask the individual to wait outside and call the official SHP customer service line to verify if a visit was scheduled for your address

Important note: SHP will never ask for immediate cash payments or bank transfers on your doorstep for maintenance services.
