September 2019 boot camp - you said, we did

Thanks to our residents who came to the Scrutiny Bootcamp on 14 September 2019. A great morning giving our residents the opportunity to talk about concerns with us. Below are a list of points raised.

Scrutiny Bootcamp Resident Feedback: September 2019

HEALTH

Should the current Health Navigators project not be extended to include general needs property?

Yes, the current Health and wellbeing project is a pilot and is due to be evaluated by January 2020 then next steps agreed where the intention would be to roll this project out to other age groups.  SHP is investigating options for commissioning community based activities in addition to SHP directly provided activities.

Can I have a leaflet to see what is offered with Health Navigators so I can share this

An information leaflet has been provided

ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Do we have clear communications regarding weight of evidence and the different actions that can be taken?

SHP have a proportionality assessment for all ASB cases that we are looking to refer for legal action and this can be relayed to residents.  There is also an in-house legal professional from whom advice can be sought. This topic will be covered again in February 2020 Bootcamp where updates will be provided

We have questions we would like to ask the Police

SHP confirmed that the Police would be invited to the next Scrutiny Bootcamp

Various questions about how SHP is addressing the increase in drug activity specifically the smoking of cannabis

With regard to the recreational smoking of cannabis, SHP is working closely with the Police to issue letters of caution and are working with other housing providers to establish best practice. Updates to be provided at February 2020 Boot Camp

COMMUNITY WALKABOUTS

When are the vacant posts in Community Development Team going to be filled to ensure Walkabouts and related community activities happen.

SHP are filling these posts and are also now working with

Community Action Sutton on a new approach to community development which will build upon our existing activities, engage more residents and deliver clear outcomes for residents

Councillors should be invited to Community Walkabouts

Councillors are always invited to attend

Forward Planning and publicity for Walkabouts needs to be improved. People should be encouraged to speak to their neighbours to get them along; list of Walkabouts for the year ahead should be widely posted and publicised

The 2020 programme of Walkabouts is being compiled and will be widely circulated with the request that residents encourage local attendance

Print out of Communal Repairs reported (listed under completed and outstanding) to be available so time isn’t wasted or duplicated

This is being added to the Walkabout Agenda

The Estate Standard should be flexible and be subject to local consultation with residents so that it meets local needs.

SHP and SFTRA are discussing the proposed consistent standard

The Estate Improvement Budget needs to be better publicised so all residents know there is local estate improvement funding that they get to decide how it should be spent

The Community Walkabout agendas will include a report on the level of the Estate Improvement Budget and spending proposals and options

The SHP New Deal Day and the planting of bulbs and bushes, weeding and general clear up on estates was really appreciated by residents

We are planning to repeat this in 2020
